Actress Nia Long Issues Statement After Ime Udoka’s Suspension

For a long period, Actress Nia Long didn’t say anything after the news about her fiancé surfaced. Ime Udoka, the Boston Celtic’s Head Coach and Nia Long’s longtime fiancé was suspended for having a consensual relationship with at least one woman within the Celtics organization. He was suspended for the full 2022-2023 season.

Long released the following statement:

“The outpouring of love and the support received from family, friends, and the community during this difficult period means a lot to me. I ask that my privacy should be respected as I try to process recent events. But above all, I am a mother and I’ll focus more on my children.”

The suspension has sparked many debates from fans wondering why the woman wasn’t also held accountable for breaking the organization’s rule by consensually involving herself with Ime Udoka.

Social media went into a frenzy to determine which women are involved with the scandal and started naming women who had nothing to do with this situation.

The Boston Celtics president of basketball operations, Brad Stevens made the following statement: “We have a lot of talented women in our organization and I thought yesterday was hard on them but nobody can control Twitter’s speculation but as an organization, we have the responsibility to make sure that the females are being supported.”
