OKC Mom Left Two Toddlers in Hot Car While She Shopped in Walmart for Nearly 2 Hours

33-year-old Elizabeth Babb of Oklahoma City, OK was arrested after leaving her children in a hot car. On August 14, the mother left her toddlers in the car, strapped in their car seats while she shopped in Walmart for nearly 2 hours. A woman spotted the children and climbed through the sunroof of the car that was parked in 98 degree weather, the car in direct sunlight. The baby girls were reportedly “unresponsive and buckled in their car seats” when they were found. When rescued, the toddlers were placed in a security vehicle with air conditioning.

The store made announcements asking the driver of the vehicle to come outside, but the mother did not leave the store until she checked out. When questioned, the mother lied saying that she had spent five minutes in the store. The children were released to their grandmother because their father lives out of town. Babb was arrested on two counts of child neglect.
