Illinois Custodian Admits to Secretly Recording Female Staff in Elementary School Bathroom

A Cook County, IL school custodian is in trouble after being caught unlawfully recording staff in the bathroom. Luis Rubio-Ortega, a 37-year-old man, was charged in Park Ridge, IL. He is a custodian at Washington Elementary School. On May 27, a female staff member was using the restroom when she noticed a cellphone was close to the toilet in recording mode.

The woman notified the Park Ridge police, and an investigation was immediately carried out with the cooperation of School District 64. During the police investigation, it was revealed that the cellphone was placed there by Rubio-Ortega, the school’s custodian. When questioned by detectives, Rubio-Ortega admitted that he had placed the cell there to record the female employees.

On Friday morning, the Superintendent of District 64 revealed that two other female staff members have been recorded. Those women were contacted. The school district  placed Rubio-Ortega on an administrative leave. At this time, he has not been fired. He appeared in bond court on August 18.
