Memphis Rapper Young Dolph Dead at 36
Memphis Rapper, Young Dolph, has died in a shooting in Memphis, Tennessee, leaving behind his wife and 2 children. He was 36 years old. The shooting took place at Makeda’s Homemade Butter Cookies in South Memphis on the afternoon of Wednesday, November 17, 2021.
According to the owner of Makeda’s, Young Dolph walked in to buy cookies when someone drove up, shot and killed him around 1:00 p.m. The rapper was born in Chicago but moved to Memphis as a little boy. His real name was Adolph Robert Thornton, Jr.
In September 2017, he was shot outside a retail store in Hollywood and hospitalized in critical condition. He spent two weeks in the hospital recovering from three gunshot wounds. The Memphis community loved Young Dolph who often donated to high schools and low-income communities.
