Aunt Killed 3-Year-Old Nephew by Pushing Him into Lake Michigan

3-year-old, Josiah Brown, suffered cardiac arrest and brain damage after an incident that transpired at the Navy Pier in Chicago, IL.

The boy has since died from his injuries after fighting for his life for nearly a week.

His aunt, Victoria Moreno, a 34-year-old woman, had purposely shoved him off into Lake Michigan on the afternoon of Monday, September 19.

According to witnesses, Moreno watched as the toddler struggled to breathe but didn’t take him out. An official rescue team pulled Josiah out of the water after he had been there for about 30 minutes.

Moreno was initially charged with two felony counts of attempted murder in the first degree with an aggravated battery of a child younger than 13. Since Brown has passed away, it’s now up to Prosecutors to upgrade those charges.

Moreno was denied bail during a bond hearing, where her attorney argued that she’s suffering from a mental illness but instead Cook County Judge Susanna Ortiz said that her actions are “intentionally brutal and heinous”.
